Franklin Parker Preserve Speedwell February 6th – There are two locations that people can visit if they want to hike through the Franklin Parker Preserve. Both are in Chatsworth, NJ. One is on Tabernacle Chatsworth Road (Route 532), which is the ‘Chatsworth’ location. The other one is on New Gretna Chatsworth Road (Route 563) and is the ‘Speedwell’ location. Here are photos that I took of the Speedwell location on February 6th. I went fishing at some of the lakes about a mile from the the parking lot on New Gretna Chatsworth Road (Route 563). These lakes were at one time cranberry bogs. This 16 square mile property is owned and maintained by the NJ Conservation Foundation. For more information and trail maps, please visit the NJ Conservancy’s page on the Franklin Parker Preserve.
Black River at the Kay Environmental Center January 28th – While doing some late January trout fishing, I took some photos of the Black River at the Kay Environmental Center in Chester, NJ. There are several trails through mountainous steep territory that run near or adjacent to the Black River. This portion of the Black River also features the remains of ‘Kay’s Cottage’ near the waterfall. To read more about the Elizabeth D. Kay Environmental Center and get trail maps or directions, please visit their site.
